Common issues and the fastest fixes.

Notes not saving

Tala uses autosave with debounce. If notes aren't saving:

  1. 01Check the saved indicator next to the note's title in the header
  2. 02Try Ctrl+S to force save
  3. 03Ensure your browser supports IndexedDB

Theme flashing on load

The theme is applied by an inline script before React renders. If you see a flash:

  1. 01Clear localStorage and reload
  2. 02Ensure JavaScript is enabled

Desktop app won't launch

On Linux, ensure the following system libraries are installed:

Pen strokes not appearing

Switch the header to Write, then pick a pen, pencil or highlighter in the pen dock. On touch screens, a finger scrolls the page while an active pen draws.
